Biography

Michelle Adams, trained at the University of California, Los Angeles, specialised in teaching neurodivergent children and teenagers how to engage in our social world.

She completed the Certified PEERS® programme and became the founder of FRIENDS WITH PEERS, offering this world-renowned programme to neurodivergent individuals in South Africa.

Michelle found her passion for working within the community of neurodiverse when she took on the position of Regional Manager of Down Syndrome Association (Gauteng) in 2006.

Working closely with parents and their children diagnosed with Autism, Michelle witnessed the need for social skills training.

In addition to her PEERS® Certification, Michelle holds a diverse range of qualifications, including:

  • Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Studies and English Literature
  • FAMSA Counselor
  • Radio 702 Helpline Counselor

Having furthered her expertise by becoming a Certified PEERS® for Adolescents Trainer, Michelle combines her rich experience to provide compassionate, personalized support for children, teenagers, and families.
